Greenpeace Semester Alum Connor Gibson calls out Jack Gerard, president of American Petroleum Institute, about the oil industries Vote 4 Energy funding.
“The more transparent the discussion, the better off we’ll be.”
- Jack Gerard, Washington Post, June 17, 2008
Yesterday, the a group of climate activists (including your Semester coordinators) dressed as referrees sat in on Congress’s Energy & Commerce committee hearing on rising gas prices to red flag Big Oil spokesperson Jack Gerard’s foul plays on the American People. After the hearing, in which Gerard claimed we could drill ourselves to energy independence (despite the fact that the U.S. consumes 20% of the world’s oil and only has 2% of it’s reserves), Semester alum Connor Gibson found him in the hall and tried to get a straight answer from Gerard regarding the cost of his company’s massive Vote4Energy campaign to mislead the American people.
