ALUMNI OF THE WEEK: Caroline Hansley
“The Greenpeace Semester changed my life.  It showed me how to use the power I have to make  my community a better place and take on challenges I would have normally been afraid to approach.  Whether you’re new to organizing or have had some experience in the past - the Greenpeace semester thoroughly equips you with the tools you need to organize in any atmosphere, on any campaign.  You should apply if you’re interested in taking bigger action to protect our environment”
Caroline is a Greenpeace legend.  She came into the Semester from our Frontline canvass program - where she was already making a name for herself as one of the best fundraisers in the country.  Caroline was part of our Spring 2011 class.  After leaving the GPS, she ran Greenpeace’s QuitCoal campaign at University of Richmond - getting 1/3 of the student body to sign onto a petition calling for a coal free UR in one semester.
She helped organize the first ever Virginia Powershift, facilitating trainings in Non-violent Direct Action, and recruited students for Greenpeace’s national Student Network Activist Convergence.  Caroline was part of the team that took direct action at Mattel Headquarters last year - inspiring that company to take endangered rainforest wood pulp out of their paper toy packaging.  She’s now working on Operation Tiger at NC State where students are organizing to pressure that campus to commit to a sustainable paper sourcing policy.
Caroline is currently studying ecological engineering.  She wants to continue organizing and to engineer solutions to problems like air pollution using natural processses instead of man made materials.APPLY TODAY and fight for your future alongside Caroline and all our other amazing alums!
